Culturally Necessary: By G. Turnage

Seems like just yesterday we were Nations plagued of hate,

America for example where hate and race are still a debate,

Just take a look back at Jim Crow black codes and the kkk,

A lot of us believe today we are no longer living this way,

But here we are and it may seem the story is getting old,

But the truth of the matter is half the story has never even been told,

“We’ve all at some point have been enslaved from the beginning of time,

It’s just that I’m black and your story may be a little different than mine,

See depending on your origin your story may vary,

But I’m speaking from a black person's perspective because it’s CULTURALLY NECESSARY!”

See blacks are the ONLY culture stripped if its identity,

Miseducated abused and used and made to believe he was free,

The Jews were rescued from their holocaust and the Indians are being repaid,

I don’t recall the promised forty acres or a mule and blacks are still being enslaved,

A broken system designed to bring ALL men justice,

But I’m speaking from a black person's perspective because it’s CULTURALLY NECESSARY!”
